YEAR 2009 BROUGHT CONSUMERS 645,000 NEW PAYMENT DEFAULT ENTRIES
Consumers obtained last year 645,000 new payment default entries, i.e. almost 100,000 entries more than the year before. The number of persons entered in Suomen Asiakastieto Oy’s credit information file grew by 13,000 in 12 months.
The number of new payment defaults increased steadily in the period from 2000 to 2009, with the exception of 2004, when the number of entries recorded for consumers decreased mainly due to information system problems in enforcement. As much as 645,000 new payment default entries were recorded to Suomen Asiakastieto Oy’s credit information file in 2009. This is almost 100,000 or 18 per cent more than in 2008, and more than double compared to 2000.
Last year 205,000 persons in all obtained new payment default entries, and 305,000 Finns had valid payment default entries at the end of December. The number of data subjects increased by approximately 13,000 persons or 4.4 per cent in 12 months.
