The abbreviation ESG comes from the English language and means corporate environmental responsibility, social responsibility and good governance (E = Environmental responsibility, S = Social responsibility, G = Corporate Governance).
The EU taxonomy, the EU's classification system for sustainable finance, lists environmentally sustainable economic activities. The aim of the regulation is to channel funding towards sustainable investments and to provide uniform guidance on what sustainability means in different sectors. The ESG Service will help to understand how companies' reporting obligations will expand not only to financial information but also to what the company does in relation to environmental responsibility. This reporting obligation already applies to all listed companies and from 1.1.2022 the reporting obligation will also apply to unlisted large companies.

Sustainability Survey
Suomen Asiakastieto is a pioneer as an impartial service provider of corporate responsibility information in Finland. Until now, Suomen Asiakastieto's ESG Report has been based on official information. With this sustainability survey, we want to expand the ESG Report with information collected from the companies themselves, so that the picture of the company's sustainability is completed. Now you have a great opportunity to stand out as a responsible company by participating in this survey.
ESG Report
With the help of the ESG Report published by Suomen Asiakastieto, you can check information related to companies' environmental issues, personnel and working conditions, and administration, such as judgments, negligence and penalty payments, certificates, and industry-specific emissions. The service is used to identify sustainability risks related to companies' business operations and to find out the risk related to the reputation of a customer or subcontractor. The service promotes transparent business operations and improves the competitiveness of responsibly operating companies. The ESG Report is used by e.g. banks, financiers and insurance companies for identifying risks related to companies' business operations and making credit decisions.
Legislation
EU taxonomy, the European classification system for sustainable finance, lists environmentally sustainable economic activities. As a result of the taxonomy, companies' reporting obligations will extend not only to financial information but also to what the company does in connection with environmental responsibility. This reporting obligation has entered into force as of January 1. 2022. It applies to all companies listed on the stock exchange and companies that employ more than 500 people and are important to society.
The aim of the EU taxonomy is to help direct investments in sustainable projects and to provide a clear definition of what sustainability means. The regulation is the EU's tool to help companies plan and transfer to a low-carbon, flexible and resource-efficient economy. Some of the questions in this survey are derived from the taxonomy setting.
